Meet Our Pastor & His Family

Pastor, Phillip Trent, is pictured above with Kaylyn (8), Logan (6), and his wife, Heather.

Summer is almost over, school is about to begin, and this is my first post since early spring.   Since then I have been to many ballgames, on a Florida vacation, and been a part of our wildly popular VBS.  All of which were exciting.  And speaking of exciting, I have a story for you.

It was a summer evening at Disney World and my whole family was eagerly waiting for the nighttime SpectroMagic parade and fireworks to begin.  A cast member came by and chose Kaylyn and Logan, my two nieces,  and a few other children to assist her in getting the parade started.  Each child was given a handful of pixie dust, and on the count of "three" blew the magical confetti causing the lights to go out on Disney’s Main Street and the parade rolling.  It was “awesome” as my children would say.

We saw one float after another of Disney characters lit up, dancing, waving, and bringing delight to people of every age.  As I looked over at my 8-year-old daughter, she had tears running down her cheeks.  I inquired and found out that they were “happy tears” and that she was having the “best day of her life.”  Of course her tears prompted her mother's tears and nearly got a few from me.

It was not long after leaving Disney World that my mind began to drift to towards things much deeper and spiritual.  I began to ask myself this simple question, “Why don’t we ever get that excited about God?”  Isn’t God greater than Mickey Mouse?  Isn’t a parade of Israelites crossing a dried up Red Sea more exciting than cast members in costumes parading up and down Main Street at Disney World?

Just something to think about.  Why don’t we get excited about God?

In His Service,

Pastor Philip Trent
